SDG 1. No Poverty

End poverty in all its forms everywhere

Target 1.a: Ensure significant mobilization of resources from a variety of sources, including through enhanced development cooperation, in order to provide adequate and predictable means for developing countries, in particular least developed countries, to implement programmes and policies to end poverty in all its dimensions.

Relevant mandate:

Parliamentary Diplomacy: Parliaments complement traditional diplomacy by providing a platform to strengthen relationships, ensuring the mobilization of capital and best practices to implement programs and policies that seek to eradicate poverty.

Example: In the United Kingdom, parliamentary diplomacy has allowed the creation and deployment of the International Development Committee in the House of Commons; it focuses on ensuring that development aid is properly used for poverty alleviation, environmental conservation, and other relevant social investments.
